Short Courses
General Information
It is within the aims of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) to promote, in particular, the younger and more recently established scientists. In this way the EGU organizers Short Courses on certain topics in the Earth, Planetary and Solar System Sciences in close cooperation with senior members and/or other organizations.
In general, these meetings are held either in connection with the General Assemblies of the Union or, by themselves, at pleasant, more remote venues over a longer weekend or even over a week with the participation of max. 20 younger and 1-3 expert senior colleagues for an in-depth study of certain fundamental and timely topics.
Each course will be organized by the Chairman of the Short Course and the EGU Office. This includes the selection of the topic and of the venue, the advertisement and the entire logistics with regards to the organization of such a meeting as well as support and financial arrangements. On the other hand it is expected that, in general, the participants will cover their own expenses, such as travel, accommodation and daily expenses.
