EGU Short Courses: Submission of a Proposal
Anyone interested in convening and chairing a Short Course should submit a proposal to the EGU Office. Each proposal should contain the following:
- A short title for the subject on the Short Course
- A short outline of the Short Course subject in about 250 words.
- A short statement explaining why the proposed topic is of current interest and which progress can be achieved by a Short Course.
- An initial list of suggested key speakers and their field of interest.
- A suggestion of international participants who should be encouraged to attend; and a proposal of possible sources that may support their travel.
- Suggestion of a Short Course site.
- Suggestion of a date and alternative dates.
- Anticipated number of participants.
- Identification of co-sponsors, if any, and their role in the Short Course.
- Request for further information and advice in connection with the preparation for EGU Short Courses should be sent to the EGU Office.
Proposals for EGU Short Courses will be submitted to the appropriate Committee. The appropriate Committee reviews the proposals as they are received. In acceptance of a proposal, the EGU may offer advice, which in some cases may be a condition of acceptance. EGU will address an advisory letter to the coordinator calling attention to any matters that seem likely to pose a problem that must be resolved if the Short Course is to be successful.
