EGU Membership Regulations

1. General Regulations

Regular Membership in the EGU is open to individuals who subscribe to the objectives of the Union and who are professionally engaged in or associated with geosciences and planetary and space sciences and related studies. Those applying for student or retired senior dues should be able to proof their student status or their status to be age 60 or older and retired from full-time employment, respectively.

In general, membership in the Union is by payment of an annual membership fee, the amount of which is determined by the Council. Otherwise, individuals that are actively participating in the meetings and/or publications of the Union may be asked after their payment to join without paying an additional membership fee, since it is regarded as being included in the registration fees or service charges, respectively. However, to be actually registered as a member of the Union, it is mandatory to return the invitation and to mark „Yes – I accept the invitation for a free membership in the EGU for this year“.

Membership is on a calendar year basis. Membership applications received after 1 October will be made effective as of 1 January of the following year, unless otherwise requested. Membership renewal: annual invoices requesting payment of membership fees and subscription to EGU journals are sent out at the end of the preceding year.

Members are kindly requested to indicate their affiliation to up to three Divisions of the Union, respectively.
