Production Process
  • Once the reviewed and accepted article is received by the Publication Production Office (PPO), the new text and figure files are inspected in view of the Manuscript Preparation & Submission and, where necessary, the author is requested to re-submit files in accordance to specification.
  • The text is composed and edited in accordance to the overall lay-out of the journal in pdf LaTeX (see LaTeX Macro). The figure files are manipulated to match a certain size and a certain content of pixels for an easy access on the Web and they are then transformed into pdf.
  • The LaTeX text and the pdf figures are now combined and the entire article formatted, and all links are activated for electronic publication. Then the entire article is transformed into pdf (Typeset 1).
  • Where necessary, the article is copy-edited and the changes are incorporated into the text and again transformed into pdf (Typeset 2).
  • The PDF file of the article is now sent to the author for galley-proof reading with the request to return the corrections within 48 hours. The corrections are then incorporated into the text (Typeset 3).
  • The article is now paged, transformed into pdf, while XML reference files and the HTML abstract file are generated. These files are now uploaded onto the Web straight away (immediate publication).
  • The full citation (reference), the associated URLs to the online version as well as the abstract are transfered to several major scientific databases and search engines immediately and long-term e-archived with Portico.
  • Whenever a series of about 300-400 page has been completed, the next issue of the publication is compiled. Then the entire issue is transformed into one PDF file and sent to the Printer and afterwards distributed to the subscribers.
  • The printed copies of each issue are long-term archived with several copyright libraries in Germany, UK and USA.
