Production Process- Once the reviewed and accepted article is received by the Publication Production Office (PPO), the text and figure files are inspected in view of the Guidelines for Manuscript and Article Submission and, where necessary, the author is requested to re-submit certain files in accordance to specification.
- The text is composed and edited in accordance to the overall layout of the journal, and the figure files are manipulated to match a certain size and a certain content of pixels for an easy access on the Web.
- The text and figures are now combined and the entire article formatted, and all links are activated for electronic publication (Typeset 1).
- Where necessary, the article is copy-edited and the changes are incorporated into the text (Typeset 2).
- The PDF file of the article is sent to the author for galley-proof reading with the request to return the corrections within 48 hours. The corrections are then incorporated into the text (Typeset 3).
- The article is now ready for publication. In case of an electronic journal, the article is paged and uploaded onto the Web straight away. For journals and book series published in the classical issue/volume-style, the article is added to the Editor-in-Chief's Overview. Based on this overview the Editor-in-Chief/Managing Editor decides which articles shall appear in the next issue of the journal or in the volume of the book series and in which order. The respective articles are combined and paged accordingly, the entire issue or volume is transformed into one PDF file and send to the Printer's, while the articles are uploaded onto the Web.
- Off-prints of any article and/or the printed version of an issue, incl. a proceeding's issue or the issue of a special publication, can be ordered at any time (print-on-demand).
