Guidelines for Student Assistance for EGS General Assemblies

The EGS invites students in the geo and space sciences in Europe to assist the EGS staff in running the General Assemblies. This includes

• Assistance at the Registration
• Assistance in the Lecture Rooms
• Assistance in the Poster Areas

We expect:

• good proficiency in the English language
• participation in the general introduction (see below)
• proper working attitude
• personal check-in in the morning and check-out in the evening

In general, the working hours are from 07:45-20:00 at every day of the meeting, and, with regard to the registration, on the day before the meeting from 12:00-19:00. Moreover, any lecture room or poster area job can be shared among max. 2-3 colleagues, if necessary.

A general introduction to the various tasks is provided on the day the official registration starts. Participation in this introduction is mandatory! Students will be informed well in advance about the time of the introduction.

In return the EGS is ready to provide

• free admission to the meeting and to its general activities
• payment of 7.50 EUR per hour incl. coffee and lunch break hours.
• a financial contribution to the travel expenses of 50,- EUR for those who come from outside the assembly location, i.e. from more then 100 km away.

In this way the EGS intends to support about 60 students to participate in its General Assembly free.
