OA10. Moist convection and mesoscale processes:
Event Information
Moist convection is the most important weather phenomenon of the tropical atmosphere, but it also strongly determines the surface rainfall in the mid-latitudes during summer. Furthermore, moist convection affects the chemical composition of the global atmosphere through vertical transport of chemical species that are emitted at the surface. This is an open session on all aspects of moist convection including mesoscale processes where convection plays a significant role. It is intended to bring together observers, modellers, forecasters and theoreticians. Therefore, we would expect presentations on such issues as observations, modelling/forecast studies of convection, convection and its role in meso-and synoptic scale weather systems and transport of chemical species by convective clouds.
