OA1. The global ocean circulation:

Event Information

The global ocean circulation consists of gyres and meridional overturning cells that transport large amounts of heat and salt. This large-scale ocean circulation plays an important role in low-frequency climate variability. In this symposium we invite studies on water mass distributions, pathways and modification processes as well as studies on the physics of the ocean circulation and its variability. Contributions are welcomed that address these issues with relevance for the global ocean circulation from an observational, theoretical, or modelling perspective.
