G8.04 Evolving space geodesy techniques: Satellite altimetry (co-sponsored by GI)

Event Information

A large number of satellite-borne altimeters are currently operational, will be launched, or are under development. Many of them include equipment that has not been flown on satellites before, like laser altimeters and interferometric altimeters, and altimeters with automatically adapting range windows. Other developments under consideration are wide swath ocean altimetry and multi-satellite altimeter constellations. Contributions related to the recent developments in altimeter technology and the use of these new technologies for the monitoring of the surface of the earth, ice, oceans, and other planets are welcome. This session also covers new techniques and methodologies used in the analysis and validation of satellite altimeter data.
