SE42.02 Ocean basins and continental margins: Geochemical, geophysical and geodynamic perspectives on lithospheric structure and evolution of rifted and transform margins
Event Information
In recent years several large multidisciplinary programs have been carried out on rifted continental and transform margins. These studies include ODP drilling, seismic transects, gravity and magnetic studies, structural mapping, geochronology, isotope geochemistry, petrology, and geodynamic modeling. These areas include, the Atlantic margins at all latitudes, Woodlark basin, and Australia s margins. For this session we invite papers on studies of these and any other analogous regions. We particular encourage talks that involve integrated approaches using a variety of geophysical and geochemical tools, studies that consider along strike segmentation of rifted margins, and studies that consider the factors responsible for the broad spectrum of margin types.
