This Symposium welcomes contributions from all disciplines concerning the Earth's core. At this exciting time when quantitative comparisons can be drawn between seismological observations and high-pressure mineralogy, convective structures and core-mantle coupling, geodynamo modelling and properties of the Earth's magnetic field on various time-scales, we wish to animate a lively forum on what is going on in the Earth's core.
