Recent years have seen increased research efforts in the Arctic, the Nordic Seas and the northern North Atlantic, a region known to be crucial for the ocean global thermocline circulation New technologies, observational approaches and modelling efforts have been employed to better understand the variability of warm to cold water conversion and the related changes of high latitude basin circulation and inter-basin exchanges.
