Event Information

Since the mid 80's, the understanding of the functionning of the Eastern Mediterranean has greatly advanced thanks to a number of international and european projects. The aim of the symposium will be to make the point of what is known and what is still left to be understood in the Eastern Mediterranean and perhaps make differences and analogies with the Western counterpart. The main themes include : the general circulation, the deep water formation, the various mechanisms and time/space scales of ocean-atmosphere interaction. A special interest will be put on the recent climatic change (The so-called Eastern Mediterranean Transit) that has occured in the area, and on its consequences.
