OA32.03 Climate variability: Variability of extratropical cyclone and storm track activity

Event Information

This symposium will address the variability in the intensities, positions and tracks of mid-latitude cyclones as well as in related upper air variability on all timescales. Observational, GCM and idealized model studies are sought that investigate the statistics and the physical processes determining this aspect of atmospheric variability and its relationship with variability in other components of the climate system, ocean, sea-ice and land surface. Presentations on the variability of climatic impacts that are associated with cyclone occurrence or storm track intensity are welcome.
