OA32.01 Climate variability: African climate variability

Event Information

Understanding and predicting climate variability in Africa is crucial for this continent which suffers greatly from extreme climatic events. Significant advance have been made in recent years but gaps in our knowledge still exist in even some of the basic features of African climate. This session will be devoted to aspects of the African climate variability on any parts of the continent including : (1) seasonal and intra-seasonal variability, (2) diurnal variations, (3) synoptic and mesoscale weather systems, (4) scale interactions, (5) monsoon dynamics, (6) rainfall variability, (7) role of land surface processes, (8) role of air-sea interactions, (9) interannual and decadal variability, (10) teleconnections, (11) paleo-climates, (12) predictability, (13) data. Both poster and oral presentations are welcomed.
